  • Nap time

Liam loves to snuggle up for nap time. His favorite pillow has become my belly. He will crawl up beside me on the couch, say "belly," pull my shirt up and lay his head down. I know you all don't want to see my belly, but I had to take a pic to document this. It really is pretty cute, his actions not my belly :0)

  • February 2010

I can hardly believe this is the last day of February already, 2010 is already flying by! This month has seemed to be Aidan's month. He is loosing teeth, 3 gone and one more loose one to go.

He has been playing basketball. This is him on the bench, he might get distracted once in a while :o)

Aidan did a really great job, he may take after his mom. He doesn't shoot so well, is great at bringing the ball up the court, and is all about playing defense. He almost always kept his man from getting the ball and would really make those he defended frustrated. We have a little retraining to do on the aspects of the game, his coach didn't know a whole lot about the fundamentals of the game, but he had great patience with the boys. They all had a great time each week! I posted a little video of Aidan playing ball, he is the one w/ the ball at first.

Last week the kids had Friday off school, I don't know why, they just get a lot of days off, so I decided to meet a friend and her two kids at the Butterfly Pavilion. The kids love going and looking at all the bugs.
DSC02791 Jonatha held Rosie the tarantula, but Aidan didn't want to this time.
We walked thru the terrarium where they have the butterflies flying freely.

(There is also a little 2 second video of Liam looking at a butterfly on video, I put the camera on video instead of picture, but he wouldn't hold still for another picture.)

  • The end of January has brought about another Taekwondo tourney for Jonatha. It is is always fun to watch her fight, but she is getting high enough up in her ranking (blue belt) that there are not a lot of girls her size to fight. She had to fight two different girls and was by far the smallest. She beat the first girl and lost the second go around. I think I was most proud of her for not being intimidated by size, she got in there and fought like a champ. The second was a very close fight, most of the instructors told us that they thought she had won. Her instructors have given her the nickname - Jonatha "Tiger" Tighe - She LOVES it! I have posted a video in the video section, they seem to take a little while to be available for viewing, and sorry that you have to listen to me and my hoarse voice thru the whole fight - oops!

This is Jonatha during her patterns competition.

Aidan has also started playing basketball. He really seems to be enjoying it, but once in a while you will see him doing handstands while the other team is bringing up the ball :0) It seems to work well for him right now to have a 20min practice and then a game, this way he stays busy but doesn't get bored. I will post pics of Aidan after next weeks game, my camera was full, so he'll have to wait a week.

A week or so ago we decided to take the kids out ice skating. They had a blast. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so no one froze. It did start to get chilly when the sun started to go down, but after an hour and half I think everyone was about ready to go anyway.

Liam got to be pulled around the rink by Peter and Jonatha!

Last weekend Peter spent the weekend moving office stuff. Door to Door bought a new warehouse and office space, so that meant a few extra hours of manual labor for the staff. They have a lot more warehouse space, and a little less office space, but they are going to do a little remodeling and then everyone should be happy.
I was very excited to have my first ever blooming flower. Last summer Mom gave me a Christmas Cactus. She told me it would take a couple years before it would bloom, but apparently it loves the CO sunshine! You can definitely tell that I haven't had a lot of plants in the house, because every morning the kids would come down the stairs and announce how the flower had changed since the day before. :0)

  • BooBoo

My neighbor had returned a ladder that he had borrowed, and I decided to just put it up against the wall until a little later to take it out to the garage.

This was a bad choice. Liam decided to try to climb it when I wasn't looking, needless to say the ladder won!

Liam took his first trip, that wasn't a checkup, to the dr. Everything checked out good. So now we just wait to see how ugly it gets.

  • Spoiled

The last couple of months I have gotten a little spoiled. A trip to Nebraska that was extended a few days, I love getting to just hang out at the farm.
We purchased a new bed (ahhhhh.) After 13 1/2 years, we decided that we needed a new bed. Ok, reality is that our bodies told us we just couldn't sleep on that bed anymore. Peter even got the King size bed that he has been wanting. We found a good deal on a good bed and sold our 89 Dodge pickup to help w/ the purchase. It's been nice to sleep comfortably again. I don't think I would have made it through this pregnancy on that other bed. I have been calling this my Christmas present.
In early December, Peter got sitters for the kiddos and planned a wonderful night out in downtown Denver. We spent the night in a nice hotel, went out to dinner at this great place called Willy G's, and just spent some time together without kids. It seems like in the last year we have had few days to just hang out together, so it was nice to be just a couple for a few hours.
Right before school started we took the kiddos up to the mountain for a little ski and snowboard fun. Aidan got a snowboard for Christmas, so he was excited to get to use it. Peter's company has passes to Eldora, so free skiing is always a good thing. Liam and I hung out in the Lodge, overall it was a good day for everyone.
We have been looking for a new vehicle, we have to have 3 rows come this summer. We found something that we liked and we are going to pay off quickly. It is a 2000 Tahoe, with a whole lot of miles, but we are loving the space already! This is what I am calling my birthday present :o)
Yesterday was my birthday, so we went out for coffee at Starbucks (thanks Nanny for the gift card.) Then some friends offered to take the kids so we could go out to dinner. We decided to try something new and went out for Indian food. We really enjoyed the dishes that we tried!
Today Aidan turned 7! He had spent the night w/ a friend and came home a little tired and cranky, but we tried to make the best of the day. He wanted homemade pizza for lunch and then we had a skateboard cake for dinner. Now the fam is sitting around watching a movie. I think he had a good day!
    DSC02736
So as you can see I have been spoiled rotten, but I'm not complaining! I think everyone has really enjoyed the last couple of months with days off school and just spending time at home. They have tomorrow off of school, but after that I think it is back to the routine of the school year and sports (did I mention Aidan is starting basketball on Sat?) I'm sure this semester will fly by just like the last.
